Foster, Iniguez win championships at CageSport 62

YAKIMA, Wash. – CageSport 62 saw the crowning of two new champions as Richard Foster recaptured the CageSport heavyweight title and Luis Iniguez adds to his growing collection of belts by winning the vacant middleweight crown.

Held at the Yakima Valley Sundome on Saturday, April 23,CageSport 62 featured eight professional bouts with Foster capping the show by becoming the first two-time heavyweight titlist in the promotion’s 14-year history.

Foster defeated Sua Tuani by second-round arm triangle (2:42) to avenge a previous loss. It title bout was a rematch from their December 2018 fight which saw Tuani KO Foster early the second round to kick-off his CageSport heavyweight title reign.

Foster won his first CageSport championship by defeating D.J. Linderman by unanimous decision for the vacant title in July 2018.

While Foster was earning his second crown, Iniguez became a dual title holder in the promotion with a split decision over Alber Tadevosyan (48-47, 47-48, 49-46). Iniguez, who is also the CageSport welterweight champion, improved his record to 5-1 with the win.

Highlighting the undercard was Charon Spain, who notched his 18th career victory by defeating a very-game Bobby McIntyre by second round TKO (1:02) in a 155-pound contest. The bout was a rematch between the two fighters as McIntyre scored a win in their first meeting, defeating Spain by second round rear naked choke at CageSport 52. The bout was later named the Rich Guerin Fight of the Night.

CageSport 62 also saw Kris Ruffin defeat Wyatt Gonzalez by second round TKO (1:04) in a battle of 171 pounders and heavyweight Juan Figueroa best Josh McPherson by first round TKO (1:26), while Adland Benson (195 pounds), Quenton Hansen (136) and Aasin Liberato (126) each pick up their first career victories.
