Cyr triumphs at Northwest Fight Promotions Seven Feathers Casino Resort debut

CANYONVILLE, Ore. – Michael Cyr improved to 5-1 after defeating Jose Hernandez by second-round submission in the main event of Northwest Fight Promotions at the Seven Feathers Casino Resort in Canyonville, Ore. on May 13.
Fighting in front of a sold-out crowd, Cyr, a member of Warriorcamp MMA who fights out of Spokane, Wash., was electrifying from the opening bell before ending the schedule three-round bantamweight bout with a triangle choke 4 minutes, 11 seconds into the second round.
Cyr’s impressive victory capped a thrilling night of MMA action in Northwest Fight Promotions’ Oregon debut.
“Everything about the event was fantastic,” said Northwest Fight Promotions promoter George Dodd. “The crowd was amazing from the first fight through the main event and never let up. Every fight on the card was competitive and exciting. It really was a spectacular debut in Oregon for Northwest Fight Promotions. Seven Feathers Casino Resort is a top-notch venue. In the co-main event, Hamza Salim of American Top Team Portland defeated Adland Benson by unanimous decision, appearing as the 30-27 winner on all three judge’s scorecards in the catchweight bout. Salim, one of the top-ranked light heavyweights in the Pacific Northwest, notched his seventh career victory with the triumph.
Caitlyn Williams won her professional debut with a first-round (3:04) victory over CaySea McBride by rear naked choke in a 116-pound female contest which was named fight of the night.
Seattle’s Ryan Ishmael, a member of Ivan Salaverry MMA, picked up his first career win after besting Sam Crawford by first-round arm triangle choke (2:50) in a matchup of 146 pounders, while Cyr’s Warriorcamp teammate Daeri Alderman improved his record to a spotless 3-0 with a second-round (2:31) win via rear naked choke over Carlos Martinez at 146 pounds.
Additional pro bouts included Dennis Linton defeating Brandon Hegstad by first-round verbal stoppage (1:31) at 146 and Jay White (1-0) defeating Michael Frear by unanimous decision at 171.
A pair of amateur bouts opened the event with heavyweight Elisha Ellison (2-0) beating Cody Snider by KO (first round, 2:41) and Tyler Zukula (1-0) defeating Jay Sluman by second-round (2:52) Achilles lock.
